There’s a specific event in Jacksonville that everyone living here has to go to at least once or twice, okay maybe 5 times. It’s a place well known among the locals.
I’m talking about the Riverside Arts Market.
This is a place filled with local vendors, local food carts, local music, and places to buy local produce. Local is obviously a key word here.
It’s the atmosphere about it as well, you’ll find the market under the bridge on Riverside Avenue, Saturday mornings between 10AM – 4PM.
Usually you can find a theme to the market. Past ones have been themed around your pups, comic-con, health and wellness, and the list goes on.
You’ll never know who in the city you’ll meet. Maybe you’ll even run into Kevin Bacon… Kevin Bacon the pig, that is. Needless to say there are many characters under the bridge.
If you’re from Jacksonville and haven’t been yet, you need to change that! When I’m not working on a Saturday you’ll most likely find me here.
I have a few go-to vendors you need to check out if you make your way out there.
My first choice is Black Hog Farms.
Their produce is beautiful, delicious and gives you a chance to eat seasonally!
After you get your veggies for the week take a break and eat at Dig Foods!
All of their food is vegan, which to some people is a turn off until you try it. Some of the best food I’ve ever had and I wish I could eat this on the daily. My favorite things on the menu is the carrot dog, and their pizza of course! I’m not even vegan and I would eat this all the time. Shop around the vendors and listen to the live music down by the water.
Before you leave, stop by Community Loaves and get some bread.
Sourdough is always a good choice and my personal favorite.
If you’re looking into the Riverside area be sure to make it a point to check out RAM. I think you’ll love the environment and character that this event brings to our fair city!
