A1A Jacksonville BeachJacksonville Beach (click to see Jax Beach real estate listings), separated from the urban and suburban core of Jacksonville by one sole stretch of bridge, is the sunny side of the city. At the center of the beaches communities, and the largest of the five, it’s bound by Neptune and Atlantic Beaches immediately to the north, with Mayport some north of that, and Ponte Vedra Beach to the south. ‘JB’ as it’s known to locals, is a transit-friendly, all-inclusive area to its some 21,000 residents. Along the main two-lane corridor of A1A you’ll find all the convenient services you need, with welcoming shopping plazas filled with chain and upscale dining, boutiques, groceries, fitness studios, and big-name retailers. Matched with an
almost 8-square-mile mix of condos, subdivisions, and beach homes among palm tree strips and a lush, tropical cityscape, it’s enough reason for those who live here to never have to “cross the ditch.” Access to the rest of town is made easy however, by way of the midpoint Beach Boulevard and the ‘J.T.B.’ highway at the south tail. The city is served by its own full-service, nationally-accredited police department, and its own fire stations and emergency services. It was granted municipality from the city of Jacksonville in 1968 and operates under a Council-Manager form of government, via public election.

Outdoor recreation is the lifestyle, especially out in the water – 14-square-miles of water make up the total 22-mile area.  Surfers line the beaches and wade the Atlantic,  fisherman with live catch speckle the Jacksonville Pier, and boaters make use of the adjacent Intracoastal Waterway. Bikers commute alongside traffic, with walking and the beach trolley also popular modes of transit. There are nine community parks, a dog park, and some of the  best trail and camp reserves nearby. It’s also a golfer’s paradise, with the newly redesigned Jacksonville Beach Golf Course, and the legendary TPC Sawgrass, home of THE PLAYERS Championship, just minutes away.

The true beach town is budding culturally, with art galleries, a monthly art walk, and role of host to renowned blues and jazz  artists for its annual festivals at its Seawalk Pavilion amphitheater. Outstanding entertainment is staged at the
Players-By-The-Sea Community Theatre, voted ‘Best in Jax.’ The local Beaches Green Market brings to light sustainable farming with organic produce every Saturday afternoon. The Beaches Museum and History Center unravels the past of the area with interactive tours. For day trips, Amelia Island is only a ferry ride away, and St. Augustine a scenic drive down A1A. And fret not the night; First Street is a hot spot mecca, lined with bars and pubs, with nightly live music at each. With the beach boardwalk sitting behind it, the strip comes alive during the day for beach goers too, giving way to oceanfront and pedestrian activity views alike.

It’s an attractive place for business owners, with open lease space in non-conventional, cozy lot spaces. It’s ideal for families, with four public and four private schools within the city limits, an array of churches, and a public, open-air aura of gathering, exploring, and growing. The cost of living index is less than the national average.  The atmosphere is laid back, your neighbors your friends, and your home uniquely yours among the the rest.
