Atlantic Beach (click to see Atlantic Beach real estate listings) is nestled at the northernmost end of the four (Jacksonville) beaches communities (Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach are the others). Atlantic Beach’s real estate sits from the ocean’s edge, outward to the Atlantic Boulevard bridge connecting to the rest of metropolitan Jacksonville. ‘AB’, as it’s known to locals, is a favorable community to live in for its dense area and small town charm. Entrenched in history, the area is defined by neighborhood compactness, with just 3.7 square miles of its total 13 being land. It’s an easy area to navigate, bounded by a handful of the traditional numbered streets running perpendicular to the beach and a bevy of beach-themed street names running parallel. It is made up of mostly single-family homes and subdivisions, along with oceanfront townhouses, duplexes, and condos, with little of the incorporated land undeveloped. What’s most noticeable is that each home is unique, with several design styles visibly at work, from the Florida-style Mediterranean and Spanish, to the more recent modern and contemporary.
The city operates under a non-partisan Commissioner-Manager government form. They, along with extensive boards and committees, oversee every aspect of life here: following up on, preserving, and advancing the area. Public services are wide-ranged, and include: animal control, ocean rescue, public utilities/public works, maintaining the city and treating its environmental defects. The city provides a maps directory, as well as a newsletter and e-letter to stay connected to its residents.
Atlantic Beach is served by Atlantic Beach, and Neptune Beach Elementary, Mayport Middle, and Fletcher High Schools. The Atlantic Beach City Hall, Fire and Rescue, and Police Departments are all integrated with one another on the corner of the well-traversed Seminole Road. With some of the city’s eight community parks adjacent or in close proximity. The city also boasts the AB Dog Park, Oceanside Rotary Skate Park, along with the River Branch, Dutton Island, and Tideviews Preserves. These combine to make ample opportunity for recreation, and play. Youth athletic games, practices, and clinics, all held by the city, is a common sight in these public spaces. Bike paths line most of 
the heavily landscaped roads, with wide sidewalks below towering trees, for a scenic and inviting street-scape.
The city makes sure to entertain and enrich as well. The Adele Grage Cultural Center features art exhibitions and is home to the Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre, which offers performances and workshops. Bull Memorial Park puts on monthly live concerts at its outdoor amphitheater, and holds the Mid-Week Market for local foods weekly. The annual Arts in the Park festival is a jubilant collaboration of artists, musicians, and crafters. The Beaches Town Center, where “Atlantic Blvd. meets the ocean,” is a mixed-use shopping and dining district, with a strong point of walk-ability. Restaurants range from longtime local hangouts to ritzier joints, all 
with live music beaming from within. The center is rounded out with boutiques, fitness spots, gift shops, and coffee, wine, and cigar bars. Held here is the North Beaches Art Walk every third Thursday of the month, as well as the annual Dancin’ in the Streets festival.
This beach community is bursting with life and has all the necessities one could ever need close by. A mostly residential city, its some 14,000 citizens enjoy a quiet and enviable life. Find yourself in AB, where “everyone knows everyone” is no exaggeration.
